Step 1: Getting Ready to Buy
DEFINE YOUR GOALS, NEEDS & BUDGET
As we get started, it’s important to clarify your budget, personal preferences, areas that would be convenient for you, and any anticipated life stage and lifestyle requirements that may impact your buying decision.
I have prepared a worksheet over the next few pages that we’ll use to identify what is important to you. To assist you with completing the worksheet, start by considering these questions:
- How much do I feel comfortable paying monthly including taxes, insurance and HOA dues?
- What types of properties do I like?
- Will I be living in this property or is it strictly an investment?
- How many bedrooms and bathrooms do I need?
- What do I like about where I’m living now?
- What is it missing?
- Do I want to be close to work?
- Do I need to be close to a school now or in the future?
- Which location and neighborhoods do I like?
